MAP-5 - All Animals
Description
Sterile MAP-5 acts as a replacement for serum and serum products in cell handling and freezing solutions, and thereby reduces the risk of transmitting micro-organisms that may contaminate serum products. Map 5 contains hyaluronan, a linear polysaccharide of alternating D-glucuronic acid and N-acetyl-D-glucosamine residues. Hyaluronan is present in follicular, oviductal and uterine fluids. Embryos have been shown to have surface receptors for hyaluronan and it is involved in the regulation of gene expression, cell proliferation and cell differentiation. Hyaluronan has been used very successfully as a replacement for serum or serum products in a number of embryo culture and freezing studies.
